At The Fir and Prairie Barn, our story is rooted in the land.

We’re Patrice and Ben Sklarchuk — first-generation ranchers who built this life from the ground up. With strong ties to both Southern Alberta and British Columbia, our story is a blend of prairie roots and west coast heart. What started as a dream to build something meaningful on our land slowly grew into a space where others could gather, celebrate, and create memories under wide-open skies.

The barn itself carries a piece of that story in every detail. Much of the wood was thoughtfully sourced from Patrice’s hometown in British Columbia, bringing with it a sense of history, warmth, and connection to where it all began. It’s a place where two landscapes meet — the rugged beauty of the coast and the quiet openness of the prairies — creating a setting that feels both grounded and timeless.

Built on a working ranch, The Fir and Prairie offers more than just a venue. It’s an experience shaped by nature, intention, and a deep appreciation for simple, meaningful moments. From golden prairie sunsets to the stillness of the open countryside, every wedding here is surrounded by a sense of calm and authenticity that can’t be replicated.
